As a woman who has personal experience of fertility problems, HER Trust’s aims, research projects and approach are close to my heart.
After attempting (and failing) to get pregnant naturally, my husband and I
decided to try IVF. The process can be painful, expensive, and awkward, and
when my first cycle failed to produce enough healthy eggs to proceed with the
treatment, I was bitterly disappointed. However, luckily, a second cycle proved
successful. I firmly believe this was helped by my choice to take a holistic
approach to conception, working with a fertility psychologist, Niravi Payne,
who helped me work through my fears of not getting pregnant. I also practiced
kundalini yoga before conception, and then after my first trimester throughout
my pregnancy. I believe that these factors combined together to make my
pregnancy a successful one.
My infertility was ‘unexplained’ (the Doctors could not identify a medical reason for it), a frustrating, though
common predicament (around 30% of infertility in the UK is unexplained). I
fully support HER Trust’s research projects, which aim to provide more information and explanation about
infertility, and the issues and conditions surrounding it.
